FO Friday #4

I felt pretty ambitious on Wednesday and thought that by now I would have more ornaments done. Not. I managed to complete two.

A pair of mittens; pattern in the Knitsimple Holiday 2011 issue and

a knit cap; pattern in the Knitsimple Holiday 2008 issue. This one I added a few personal touches, too. Instead of bringing the top to a close I continued on in an I-cord to make a loop for hanging.

I blame my lack of ornaments on Holiday travel and Hexipuffs. Well, the Hexipuffs are in my to-go knitting bag. So, as we've been rushing out the door to various locations that's what I've been grabbing.

Four days left of Winter vacation for the kidlets. Yeah! Thery're groaning and trying to pretend that it's still last week :)

Hope everyone is going to have a safe and Happy New Year! and as always, hop on over to Tami's Amis to see more wonderful FO's.

WIP Wednesday #5

Hope everyone survived the Holidays and had a Merry Christmas! With all the Christmas knitting/crocheting I did for everyone else, I didn't get any done for my household. And reading the posts from fellow WIPer's and FOer's I had handmade ornament envy.

So, this week I am going to try and get a few done; in dark grey, red, and white to match our other Christmas decor. That way when we take all the decorations down after New Year's they can be packed away with them. I already have a few done that I'll be sharing on FO Friday.

As always, hop over to Tami's Amis to check out other awesome WIP's.

FO Friday #3

Today, I don't have a new FO but, thought I would share an old one.

These stockings I made years ago, probably five, when my youngest was a toddler. They're crocheted in the round and I stitched our names on them. The pattern was out of a magazine that I can no longer recall. Husband's is the blue one on the bottom, mine is the orange/purple, Daughter's is the pink camo, and Son's is the one on top. The yarn that I used for his is vintage. I found it in the bottom of a bin in our local charity shop.

As always hop on over to Tami's Amis for more wonderful FO's.

Hope your Christmas is merry!

Yarn Along #1

Currently, I’m having a Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark-Hunter series marathon. It’s not like I don’t have anything new to read, there is a TBR stack a mile long waiting for my attention. A few months ago I just had the urge to go back to the beginning (not my first time doing this) and read through this series again. The book I’m reading now is Kiss of the Night. All of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books are a good read.

Also, I got my new Interweave Knits magazine in the mail. Yeah! I’ve thumbed through it a few times and read the article on Annemor. And my Husband’s Gamerinformer came in some days ago and I’ve also thumbed through it, too. And The Knitter's Year arrived in the mail not too long ago; I ordered it and a few other craft books recently. The sachets I made last week came from this book and I have my eye on some other patterns as well.

And the Hexipuffs! I’m back to working on them. 25 and counting!

Over at Small Things there are more yarn alongs to catch up on.

WIP Wednesday #4

WIP Wednesday #4

After my marathon of Christmas knitting/crocheting was completed my brain felt like mush and I swear there for a day or so that my fingers and forearms had turned to limp noodles. So, with some mindless TV staring (there might have been some drool involved) for recuperation, I have begun to work once again on my Hexipuffs. Yeah! Hexipuffs!

I now have a count of 23 and one on the needle.

Previously, before my insane notion to start Christmas knitting/crocheting at the end of November, I had started on a sweater coat for myself. I found this pattern in Crochet Today Nov/Dec 2007 issue. It seems simple enough for a busy Crocheter, something that can be worked on while herding the hoodlums or while relaxing in front of the TV.

Dark grey is one of my favorite colors, if not the favoritest one. The yarn is Simply Soft Caron and it is oh, so , soft. You know the yarn is really soft when you find yourself setting there petting your project. I’m looking forward to getting back to work on the sweater.

Knitpick’s pattern holder is awesome.

I’ve been looking for something like what I use for my cross-stitch patterns, but none of the local shops carry them anymore.  Looking through Knitpick’s recent catalog, TA! DA! Found one.

It’s working out well, so far.

UPDATE: Our cat is doing really well. Saturday night he had a set back and then Sunday morning he got up like nothing ever happened and started eating and interacting with his brothers. The vet still has no clue what had been wrong.  We think it might have been a combination of missing the dog (they had been close) and bad cat food. I had opened a new bag Monday last, the same day he had come down sick. The other two didn’t even eat much of it, either. Since then we have replaced the food and he is now recovering. Yeah!

Don’t forget to check out other great WIP’s over at Tami's Amis!

FO Friday #2

Rounding up the week I have three FO’s:

three sachets (I forgot to mention that I got the pattern out of A Knitter's Year by Debbie Bliss )

and Mobius Mosaic.

Soon, I will have a link for the Mobius Mosaic in my shop KnitPurlHooked. I had planned on having it ready by today, but things went awry and it did not turn out that way. One of our cats have been not feeling up to snuff. So, between nursing him and running him to the vets a few times, plus regular everyday stuff, I’m exhausted. This on top of our dog dying three weeks ago of old age,

at odd moments I still look for him about the house.

OK! enough of the drearies, jump over to Tami's Amis for more FO’s.

WIP Wednesday #3

It's been a rushed and hectic week, so this is going to be a quickie.

I have finished ALL of my Christmas  knitting/crocheting! Go me, go me. Whoop! Whoop!

Monday, I decided, like the maniac that I am, what a great idea a knitted sachet would be to put in the packages that I was sending out.

So, the last two days I have been knitting like a fiend to make three.

After knitting the first one I realized that I was out of potpourri (of course). I ran out to our local store and they do not carry potpourri. Candles, yes. Liquid potpourri, why yes. The dry stuff, nada. Yesterday, I made a trek to the city and bought not one but three bags of them just to be sure.

Came home after fending off all the Holiday shoppers to put the sachets and packages together. Everything is now ready to ship out. Just have to haul it down to the Post Office.

OK! as I run my kids out to the bus stop so that I don't have to drive them to school (boo! hiss!) hop on over to Tami's Amis to check out more wonderful WIP's.

Monday Ramblings

I’ve noticed recently that my grandmother is slipping back into her German accent. As a child and through the years you would only hear it if she was terribly upset or angry. Also, at random moments she has been talking of her past. This comes from a woman who was born during The Second World War, having her father supposedly lost in action when she was the age of 4, and pretty much destroyed her whole family, has until recently denied her German heritage. I guess with age, she has come to terms with her past.

I took an internet hiatus over the weekend. Spent the majority of it finishing up the second Sarah's Super Quick Throw and helping Daughter to film and edit her video project for school. Also, Daughter agreed to pose with a new FO for me so that I could properly display it for my shop. We both froze our butts off during the shoot. It should be ready for listing and a revel by FO Friday.

The film project was an interesting experience, since neither of us have filmed or edited anything before. I believe (as a Mother would) that she has done an excellent job.

All my handmade Christmas gifts have been packaged and are ready to be shipped out on the morrow. I do hope that they arrive in time for the holiday.

Be Creative!

FO Friday...Not Quite

Today, I was hoping that the Sarah’s Super Quick Throw that I’m working on would be a FO. But, it is not. Maybe three more days until it’s complete, fingers crossed.

So, I thought that I would share some other FO’s that I completed weeks/months ago.

This is a commissioned blanket that I have made for a customer.

She has ordered them for her grandchildren.

Happy knitting/crocheting this weekend! And as always for more FO’s hop over to Tami's Amis.
