Wednesday's Blog Along #1

Since I'm participating in WIPWs and Yarn Alongs I am combining the title/posts.

While knitting Daughter's hat, Son asked me to make him a new one too. He doesn't need a knew one but, you know, his big sissy is getting one. Then as I was finishing up her hat Sunday, Husband asked me to make him one too. Now, this is momentous. I made him one years ago, a simple dark green knit hat, he made the right oh and ah sounds, wore it for a few days, but then it has sat in the closet since. After asking me to make him a hat, he even went on line with me to pick out the pattern. On Monday he even went to the yarn shop with me to pick out the colors for his hats. Yes, hats. Two of them. So, my next few posts are going to be about hats. I even pick out a pattern for myself. Why not. Everyone else is getting new ones.

Last night I was close to completing Son's hat and realized that it was going to be to big ( I followed gauge). Even without the crown it would easily cover my whole head. That wouldn't do. So, I frogged it, have adjusted the numbers in the pattern, and have started over.

The pattern is Riley's Skully Hat via Raverly. Son is anticipating it's completion; he has handed me my work on numerous times. What a cutie pie :]

I'm still reading away at Sherrilyn Kenyon's Seize the Night. Unfortunately, I'm unable to hold a paperback and my knitting simultaneously. My reading has slowed down do to all the hat knitting. The Dark-Hunter series is quite long and I'm enjoying reading them one after the other in a continues story. But, my To Be Read Stack (TBR) is being neglected and the shelves are beginning to groan around it's strain.

And with that I better get back to knitting. My guys are anxiously waiting. Hop on over to Tami's Amis and Small Things to view wonderfully creative people.

  1. Wow! I love it when my hubby picks out yarn for a project. I realize he may actually use whatever it may be.

    Great hat colors!

Let me know if you ever figure out how to hold a book and knit. You can market it and make a fortune.

  2. Sorry you had to frog, and hope you don't have hat Over dose before you get them all done. lol I'd be irritated I think if he didn't wear the other one and would be slow in making him another. Hey...maybe he doesn't even remember you made the other one. In a few days click and mess with your needles then toss him the previously made hat and say, here....see if this fits! lol

  3. That's great! My husband made it clear several months ago that I wasn't to bother making him anything..... but he tried on my Cherry Garcia cowl and decided he would wear one of those so I made one fore his birthday. He kept putting off wearing it until yesterday when I got a text declaring it "awesome and so warm". Men!

  4. Sandy, when I mentioned the other hat, he said that he didn't even remember it. I told him that I would make him these but he better wear them. Plus, I made that hat years ago when I first started knitting. My skill has improved immensely so, I don't mind making him new ones. As long as he wears them.

  5. Sarah (Crafts From The Cwtch), I think the reason that he hasn't asked me to make him anything is that he didn't grow up in a crafty/handmake family. His family didn't (and still doesn't) make things to wear or use by hand. Everything has to be store bought and name brand. He sees the kids enjoying the things that I make them and he likes the pillows and blankets I've made.
