Monday Ramblings

I’ve noticed recently that my grandmother is slipping back into her German accent. As a child and through the years you would only hear it if she was terribly upset or angry. Also, at random moments she has been talking of her past. This comes from a woman who was born during The Second World War, having her father supposedly lost in action when she was the age of 4, and pretty much destroyed her whole family, has until recently denied her German heritage. I guess with age, she has come to terms with her past.

I took an internet hiatus over the weekend. Spent the majority of it finishing up the second Sarah's Super Quick Throw and helping Daughter to film and edit her video project for school. Also, Daughter agreed to pose with a new FO for me so that I could properly display it for my shop. We both froze our butts off during the shoot. It should be ready for listing and a revel by FO Friday.

The film project was an interesting experience, since neither of us have filmed or edited anything before. I believe (as a Mother would) that she has done an excellent job.

All my handmade Christmas gifts have been packaged and are ready to be shipped out on the morrow. I do hope that they arrive in time for the holiday.

FO Friday

For FO Friday (my first), I have a twofer. Sarah’s Super Quick Throw

Sarah's Super Quick Throw

This throw works up quickly. I managed to finish this first one in just a week. Also, it’s idea for making a great bed scarf. You can even double the yarn for thicker and heavier results. The one I’ve completed and the other that I’m currently working on are slated for Christmas gifts.

Hours and hours later...

I worked on this post last night because I knew that today was going to be incredibly busy and I had planned on publishing this post this morning. Well, in the rush to get out the door my well lade plans got forgotten.


My Husband only has one day off a week, Friday. We had a list about a mile long of things that need to be accomplished soon. And we had this great idea of trying to do it ALL today.


Friday's Honey Do List:
1. Chop, load, and haul home a truck load of wood. Done.
2. Unload truck and load old 2 setter couch into truck. Done.
3. Take couch to local charity then go to store and buy new furniture. Done.
4. Haul new furniture home and get it in the house. Done.
5. Wrestle old 3 setter (and it weighed a freaking ton) out of the house and onto the truck. Done.
6. While Husband went back to get more wood, after taking couch to local charity, I put together our new recliner and couch (it took me 2 hours). Done.
7. Go to grocery store (with kids on a Friday evening) and purchase food, so that we do not die of starvation. Done.
8. Have Husband help me get Christmas decorations out from under bed and out of closet and haul downstairs. Done.


I'M EXHAUSTED! I need like a week off just to recover from today. Hope everyone else had a nice and relaxing day.

October, Glad To See You Go

20 Hexipuffs!

This has truly become my grab and go WIP.

October was a drive by month that has left me feeling like I haven't accomplished anything. Which, for everything I had planned on doing, is true. I'm hoping that for November, I'll be able to at least have a more of an online presence.

Today, I finally had the time to write up some patterns that I've been planning on. A baby blanket, that I completed yesterday, and a couple of patterns for hats that I made awhile back but, never jotted down. As soon as I'm done writing up the new patterns I will post about it. The blanket is going to be a free pattern and the hats will be available for a small fee through Raverly.

Pumpkin Seeds

I knitted the second sock, photographed it, and added it to the pattern pages. And then, finally, download it to Ravelry late last night. These socks knit up quickly and the pattern is intricate enough that you won't get bored while working on it. It was fun watching the striping take place and how the colors worked out with the Patons yarn I used to make them.

Frogs

I prototyped a pattern for a hat today. As you can see from the picture it didn't go so well. Time to frog this one. After I rip it out it's back to the drawing board for me. I need to tweak this pattern a little more so it will fit a more normal persons head. Ugh! It is always fun writing up new patterns and then having to test them out. Hopefully, I will work all the bugs out of it. Then only have to make it one more time to see if it works.
