My first completed project in a long time! Meet Autumn Bonfires Shawl.

This was my first shawl that I've made and I designed it. I really love how it turned out and my lovey daughter modeled for me.

Reminiscent of roasting marshmallows around bonfires on chilly evenings this lacy shawl is knit as a 90 degree triangle. Autumn Bonfires Shawl can be worn multiple ways: wrapped around the neck like a kerchief, traditionally about the shoulders,etc. Autumn Bonfires Shawl is made using a light weight lace yarn. 80% Acrylic, 10% Mohair, and 10% Wool.

FO Friday #17 and Hexipuffs!

Months back, after reading many blogger’s posts totting hand spun/dyed yarn, I decided to give it a try (I know I’m behind times). Searching through Etsy, looking at all the wonderful dyers, got me thinking to what purpose I would use the yarn once I got it. Hexipuffs! And there were so many wonderful options for mini skeins.  

For my first Indie Dyer I went with Geek Chic Yarns. She is an excellent seller.

The Doctor Who theme is what hooked me. The yarn is very soft and defines the stitches beautifully. I was able to get 3 Hexipuffs out of one mini skein each.

I really enjoyed working with the hand spun/dyed yarn and have since the initial purchase of these, acquired more from different sources.

FO Friday #15

I don't know if I'm excited that it is Friday or if I'm left wondering where my week went. Well, I'm definitely glad it's not Thursday anymore. I thought yesterday was never going to end. Our window unit went out Wednesday night, so, I ventured to the city yesterday to buy a new one. Forgot that it is graduation weekend for one of the colleges. Everyone and there grandparents are in town = lines out the ying-yang. And because of the heat everyone in my household Thursday evening was whiny and temperamental (emphasis on the mental).

Okay. Enough of my whining. For today's share, remember this?

Our new dog Shep thought it need a little something "more".

Finally, I have made the replacement hat for Son.

Just in time for Summer. Go me!

FO Friday #14

Secret project # 1 is complete but, I can't show it. If and when it gets approved maybe I'll be able to share it here. Here's hoping that it does get it's approval and passes all the criteria.

Son's derby car is done. Yeah!

And he had his races on Sunday. His car went an average of 220 mph!

Love Son's snazzy paint job!

But, he didn't win. The winning car went 232+ mph! 84 cars were enter and it took four hours to complete the races. There were more than one subcategory at the races. Out of the Cub Scouts, Son, came in fourth. He is already talking about next year's races. Lord help me.

Small Plant Hanger

A KnitPurlHooked Pattern by Sarahfay Lucy

Recently, I bought new plants to brighten up my home. Having cats, I need to hang the plants. Only the local stores here no longer carry plant hangers.  Solution: make my own of course.

Measurements:  This pattern will fit small pots of about 6”.

Yarn: Worsted weight

Notions: 4mm crochet hook, darning needle, removable marker, 2” ring (I used Bamboo).

Gauge:  Approximately 4 chains = 1”

40 single crochet (sc) around 2” ring. Join with slip stitch (sl st) to first sc.

Making the cables

Chain (ch) 1, sc in next 4 sc, turn, sl st in 1st sc.

Ch 210, join with sl st to 1st sc.

Ch 210, join with sl st to 2nd sc.

Ch 210, join with sl st to 3rd sc.

Ch 210, join with sl st to 4th sc. Fasten off. 4 cables.

Making the netting

Join with sl st to end of 1st cable.

Ch 15, join with sl st to end of 2nd cable.

Ch 15, join with sl st to end of 3rd cable.

Ch 15, join with sl st to end of 4th cable.

Ch 15, join with sl st to the end of 1st cable.

Ch 1, 60 sc evenly around, join with sl st to 1st sc.

Ch 2, half double crochet (hdc) in next sc and every sc around, join with sl st to 1st stitch (st). 

*Ch 10, sc in the 6th sc*, place marker in the loop made.

Repeat from *to* around to last 6 sc.

Ch 5, treble crochet (tc) in first sc.

*Ch 8, sc in the top of the next loop*, move marker to the loop made.

Repeat from *to* around to last loop.

Ch 4, double crochet in the top of next loop.

 *Ch 6, sc in the top of the next loop*, move marker to the loop made.

 Repeat from *to* around to last loop.

* Ch 4, sc in the top of the next loop*, move marker to the loop made.

Repeat from *to* around to last loop.

*Ch 2, sc in the top of the next loop*, move marker to the loop made.

Repeat from *to* around to last loop.

*Ch 1, sc in the top of the next loop*, move marker to the loop made.

Repeat from *to* around to last loop.

Ch 1, sc evenly around, join with sl st to 1^st sc.

Ch 1, insert hook in 1st sc draw up a loop, insert hook into next sc draw a loop, yo, and pull through 2 loops.

Repeat around until hole is closed up. Fasten off. Weave in tails.

Insert pot into the netting and hang. Happy planting!

FO Friday #12

It has been accomplished! Husband's hat #2 is DONE! Yeah.

And, yes. Bribing was once again involved. This time a sub sandwich.

The pattern is called "Oliver" Jogless Stripes Hat by Amy Andersen. I don't think any one can come close to guessing how glad I am that this project is complete. Done and off the needles. ~dance~dance~

FO Friday #11

I have a FO to share! Woot! Woot! And Husband has agreed to be my model (there may have been an omelet bribing involved).

The Woodsman Hat is now available through my Etsy shop KnitPurlHooked

I enjoyed making this hat. Even if it was an unintentional project. The yarn I used is incredibly soft. It's the Caron One Pound in espresso yarn. For the stripping I used Red Heart's heather grey.

FO Friday #10

Well, after a some reminders these last few days that I needed Husband and hat together for a photo op. And at least 20 pictures taken (many were blurred or interrupted by kids). He reluctantly posed for me while doing his favorite pastime; playing video games. Here, at last, is Husbands hat #1.

Husband is a serious gamer.

He really doesn't like his picture taken.

Oh, ~happy dance, happy dance~ I sold my first pattern through Craftsy yesterday. Yeah!

FO Friday #8

I can't believe it's Friday, already. Did we skip over Thursday?

The Smurf hat has been completed. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of it before it went out the door this morning on my happy daughter's head. Go figure.

And my swatching is done for hat #1 of Husband's. It is well on it's way to completion and if all goes as planned, I should be able to share it next Friday.

I know it's not WIP Wednesday, yet. But, I would like to share a picture of something. It's on DPNs because this yarn did not want to side easily on my circular's and I got tried of fighting with it. I started on this hat last night just before bed and managed to get the ribbing complete. Soon, the striping will start. But, more on this on Wednesday.

FO Friday #7

Daughter’s and Son’s hats have been completed. Yeah!

I had to talk them into posing for me. Especially, Son. His hat turned out a little big, even after the modifications that I’d made to it. Oh, well. Something for him to grow into.

Daughter likes hers but, has mentioned on occasions that she wishes I had done the floppy version. So, it looks like I’m going to have to frog the top of her hat and extend it. A Mom’s household is never satisfied. Sigh.

Hope everyone is having a Fabulous FO Friday. I will be at the dentist today; it’s time for me to heard Husband in for his appointment. Wish me luck!

FO Friday #6

I'm late! As always. There are times that I find it hard to get to the computer in the mornings.

I've been following along with Interweave Crochet's Clones Lace along. Okay, this week's FO

is an Irish Rose (which was in the last issue) and a 3 Ring Clover with a buttony center (from this month's issue). Next issue there are going to be grapes. I'm enjoying making these as I learn a little about crochet's history. My two favorite things together, history and crochet/knitting. If you too are interested in these two check out PieceWork magazine. I LOVE it!

Sorry I'm late with posting this. Daughter had a check up at the doctors today and then we had to run errands.

The pattern used for this soft basket is out of  More Last Minute Gifts . I really like Joelle Hoverson's style and am planning on working up a few more projects from this book in the near future.

I've only the one basket that has become full of Hexipuffs with no where for more. So, I decided to make this soft basket, now crisis advert.

FO Friday #2

 Rounding up the week I have three FO’s:

Soon, I will have a link for the Mobius Mosaic in my shop KnitPurlHooked. I had planned on having it ready by today, but things went awry and it did not turn out that way. One of our cats have been not feeling up to snuff. So, between nursing him and running him to the vets a few times, plus regular everyday stuff, I’m exhausted. This on top of our dog dying three weeks ago of old age,

at odd moments I still look for him about the house.

FO Friday...Not Quite

Today, I was hoping that the Sarah’s Super Quick Throw that I’m working on would be a FO. But, it is not. Maybe three more days until it’s complete, fingers crossed.

So, I thought that I would share some other FO’s that I completed weeks/months ago.

This is a commissioned blanket that I have made for a customer.

She has ordered them for her grandchildren.

For FO Friday (my first), I have a twofer. Sarah’s Super Quick Throw

This throw works up quickly. I managed to finish this first one in just a week. Also, it’s idea for making a great bed scarf. You can even double the yarn for thicker and heavier results. The one I’ve completed and the other that I’m currently working on are slated for Christmas gifts.

Hours and hours later...

I worked on this post last night because I knew that today was going to be incredibly busy and I had planned on publishing this post this morning. Well, in the rush to get out the door my well lade plans got forgotten.


My Husband only has one day off a week, Friday. We had a list about a mile long of things that need to be accomplished soon. And we had this great idea of trying to do it ALL today.


Friday's Honey Do List:
1. Chop, load, and haul home a truck load of wood. Done.
2. Unload truck and load old 2 setter couch into truck. Done.
3. Take couch to local charity then go to store and buy new furniture. Done.
4. Haul new furniture home and get it in the house. Done.
5. Wrestle old 3 setter (and it weighed a freaking ton) out of the house and onto the truck. Done.
6. While Husband went back to get more wood, after taking couch to local charity, I put together our new recliner and couch (it took me 2 hours). Done.
7. Go to grocery store (with kids on a Friday evening) and purchase food, so that we do not die of starvation. Done.
8. Have Husband help me get Christmas decorations out from under bed and out of closet and haul downstairs. Done.


I'M EXHAUSTED! I need like a week off just to recover from today. Hope everyone else had a nice and relaxing day.
